RICARDO ODRIOZOLA - VIOLIN

Ricardo Odriozola

Ricardo Odriozola (born in Bilbao, Spain, in 1965) received his education as a violinist in Bilbao, Madrid, Boston, Rochester, NY (Eastman School of Music) and Copenhagen. He is associate professor of violin and chamber music at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, where he began teaching in 1987. Odriozola has performed as violinist and conductor throughout Europe and North America.
He is self-taught as a composer, with some 50 compositions to his credit. He is also the author of the books "Opus Perseverat" (about five Norwegian composers) and ”Cannonball! the Music, Words and Images of Judge Smith”. Has, since 2016, worked as editor for Amethyst Edition (Munich), devoted to Norwegian Music (https://repertoire-explorer.musikmph.de/en/product-category/special-editions/amethyst-edition) He appears in more than 50 CD recordings, several of them published by his own company Amethyst Records (www.amethyst-records.com). Permanent member of Ensemble KammerKlang since its inception in March 2019.
