VESTFOLD PSYKLUS

The Vestfold "Psycle" is Ensemble KammerKlang's trademark work. It began as five short pieces written for the ensemble's debut concert in March 2019 and has since grown in to a multicoloured mosaic of over 40 small pieces generally lasting between 1 and 2 minutes. In the words of our pianist, Rune B. Bekkhus:
'On every concert new small compositions make their debut while others take a back seat, allowing room for others to find their way back to the fold. In this way we not only put a mirror to our Zeitgeist [hence the "P" in "Psycle"- ed.], but we ensure that each movement is performed multiple times . This is seldom the case with contemporary music! The Vestfol Psycle is also a welcome opportunity for young composers to try out their ideas, and Ensemble KammerKlang is more than happy to give them a voice. Our listeners have, without exception, expressed their enthusiasm for the concert and the ever-changing nature of this unpredictable and original project.'

FESTINA LENTE

In 2021 EKK had a cooperation with electronic composers Anders Tveit and Maya Viken. The result was the collective work Festina Lente, involving several composers from EKK’s ranks: Per Christian Arnesen, Rune Boutroue Bekkhus, Bjørn Norvall Hoemsnes, Ricardo Odriozola and Roger Arve Vigulf. The contributions from each composer were short fragments lasting less than one minute. Tveit and Viken developed these, live, into electronic soundscapes at a concert given in Tønsberg in June 2021. The following fragments have, from time to time, found their way into diverse performances of the Vestfold Psyklus:
